Retiree's Adventures: From Planting to Market - The Chestnut Journey

During the COVID Pandemic in 2020, Mickey and Sharon began the endeavor to grow a chestnut orchard to work in our future retirement years. Our family and friends were able to come help and socialize without fear of catching COVID. Though disorganized, our family and friends all worked hard and had a great time doing so. Plus, the Route 9 chestnut seedlings thrived! This season, our small but dedicated team added another 50 trees to the chestnut orchard. Though mother nature has challenged and humbled us year after year, our latest crop is doing well and is plentiful. It is work we look forward to every day.
