Our Origins
est. 2019

Our family's farm in Davidsonville, Maryland has seen it all - from humble beginnings to a bustling tobacco farm and now a diverse hub for chestnuts and hazelnuts.

While some folks keep the grain game strong, we're diving into the nutty business! With over 350 Chinese chestnut trees and 165 hazelnut trees, we're on a mission to jazz up our land with regenerative tricks and boost those soil superstars. Our nutty adventure kicked off in 2019.  Soon after, during the wild ride of COVID-19, we survived and continued to grow.  Our green babies are gearing up for 2025!

Picture this - in our retirement, this orchard will not only keep us busy but will be a legacy to pass down, all while dishing out tasty nuts to our Maryland neighbors. And hey, who knows, maybe one day you'll join us for a nut-picking fiesta! Stay tuned as we crack on with online sales and scout out the perfect Farmer's Markets to sprinkle our nutty magic!

Strong Roots
Mickey and Sharon

Mickey's roots trace back to a hardworking German immigrant family. His grandparents kick-started the EZnutSZ Orchard back in 1936 on a farm in Davidsonville, Maryland. Mickey, a farm-kid at heart, soaked up wisdom from his family members while working and playing around the farm. He ventured into crane operating for a roofing company for over four decades, while supporting his Uncle Martin's farming legacy whenever needed.

Sharon's father was also raised on a farm in Ardmore, Maryland, however, he did not remain a farmer, but did play around on his 3 acres later in his retirement.  She crossed paths with Mickey in high school then later, on a co-ed softball team.  They embarked on a dating adventure and married in 1980's.  Sharon completed a NOAA Cooperative Education program then began her NASA adventure.  Sharon retired at the start of 2024 from a diverse career at NOAA and NASA after over 35 years, dabbling in everything from software maintenance, graphics programming, systems engineering, and configuration management.  They relocated to the Davidsonville farm with their daughters, where Sharon is now eagerly embracing her challenging role as an orchard manager, stretching her abilities in a new and exciting direction!

Their daughters also worked alongside Mickey's renowned Uncle Martin on Friday evenings and Saturdays as he guided them to harvest the best vegetables for and provide professional customer service at the Riva Farmer's Market.

Together, they are an unstoppable team!
